What this is
HairBraidingAtlas is a free directory of braiding salons in the United States, organised by state and city. Every listing has an address; most have a phone number, and where a business publishes its hours or services we show those too. Listings come from open data and from the businesses themselves, who can correct their card at any time — about the directory. Nothing on the lists is paid placement.
Pick a state above, or use the “near me” button to jump to the braiding salons closest to you. City pages show the full list with a map; state pages collect smaller towns that have a single braiding salon.

Common questions
How long does it take to get braids?
Small box or knotless braids can take four to eight hours or more, while larger braids and cornrows are faster. The style, size and length all change the time, so ask the braider for an estimate when you book.
How should I prepare my hair before the appointment?
Most braiders ask you to arrive with hair that is washed, fully detangled and blow-dried or stretched, but practices differ. Ask what the salon prefers, and whether it offers washing and detangling for an extra fee.
Do I need to bring my own braiding hair?
It depends on the salon. Some include the hair in the price, some sell it, and some ask you to bring your own in a specific type and quantity. Ask when you book so you arrive with the right amount.
What is the difference between box braids and knotless braids?
Box braids start with a knot of braiding hair at the root, while knotless braids begin with natural hair and feed in extension hair gradually. Many people find knotless braids lighter and gentler on the scalp, but both are widely offered.
How long do braids last?
Often four to eight weeks, depending on the style and how the scalp and edges are cared for. Leaving braids in longer than the braider recommends can cause tangling and breakage at the roots.
